An exhibition about the lives of ancient Chinese portrayed on brick slabs kicked off at the National Museum of China in Beijing on Friday. The 237 cultural relics exhibited are from Gansu Province, mainly including portrait bricks, woodware and pottery, among which 35 are first-class cultural relics. The brick portraits were unearthed from the Hexi Corridor area in China's northwest, and the content on the portrait bricks involves ancient farming, nomadism and mythology from the Wei and Jin dynasties, and depicts the production and living conditions of ancestors living on Hexi area at the time.
