The memorial of the First National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC) officially opened to the public on Thursday in Shanghai, as part of multiple events set to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the founding of the CPC.
The memorial is near the site of the first National Congress of the Party. The newly built exhibition covers around 3,700 square meters, with over 612 valuable relics, more than three times bigger than the original exhibition, including over 30 pieces of national first-level revolutionary cultural relics. All 72 versions of the Communist Manifesto are on display.
Some exhibits will be on display for the first time, such as a commemorative lamp made from the shell of Chao Ho’s artillery.
On July 23, 1921, the first National Congress of the CPC was held in the two-story brick-and-wood building at 76 Xingye Road in Shanghai. The congress then moved to a boat on Nanhu Lake in Jiaxing, East China’s Zhejiang Province.
