The Tokyo Olympic Games opened on Friday night one year after its originally planned date due to the COVID-19 pandemic. About 950 people, including officials and reporters, were allowed into the venue to watch the opening ceremony. The Chinese mainland sent 777 people to Tokyo, the largest overseas delegation ever, including 431 athletes.
