Editor's Note:
Gejia village in Ninghai county, East China’s Zhejiang Province, is filled with artistic designs and attractive ideas. The whole village has 138 artists who participated in the transformation of the community with art since 2019.

The transformation has brought huge changes to the village and also improved the life of residents. The collective economic income of Gejia village was around 120,000 yuan ($18,596) in 2019 and this year, “the income is expected to reach 500,000 yuan,” Ge Wanyong, Party secretary of Gejia village, told the Global Times on Tuesday.

The success in Gejia inspired other nearby villages, such as Shimen, Zhangken and Maoyang, and motivated residents to learn from their experiences. For instance, Zhangken aimed to transform itself into a kung fu-themed village, where visitors can experience the kung fu culture, and Maoyang wants to become a wedding-themed village to attract more visitors and boost tourism.
