The National Botanical Garden, based in Beijing, is built on the existing resources of the Institute of Botany under the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Beijing Botanical Garden, covering an area of nearly 600 hectares. The Garden plans to collect more than 30,000 kinds of native plants from China and the the world, including some endangered plants, and also collect 5 million representative plant specimens from across five continents.
