On Thursday the communities in Shanghai, Santiago and O'Higgins, Chile held an event to promote the friendship between China and Chile via brilliant online performances from both sides and onsite activities in Shanghai. The performances included traditional Chinese dancing, singing and calligraphy, as well as Chile’s folk songs. Ariel, one of the Chilean performers who came to Shanghai in March, told the Global Times on Thursday he has made many Chinese friends in Shanghai and is happy to be here. Chen Jing, chairman of the Shanghai People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries said he hoped the event could help citizens from both countries to enhance mutual understanding.
