Chinese opera Minning focuses on poverty alleviation efforts

Inspired by the popular TV series of the same name, Chinese opera Minning Town is set to be staged at the National Centre for the Performing Arts in Beijing from March 8 to 12. Composed by Meng Weidong, written by Yi Ming, and directed by Wang Xiaodi, the opera will present the touching stories from China’s poverty alleviation campaign, and is set in Minning town in the Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region. The opera will be performed by the Guiyang Symphony Orchestra, the NCPA chorus and singers including Wang Hongwei, Ma Xiaoming and Sa Lina as well as conductor Zhang Guoyong.
