The opening ceremony of the 20th Youth Summer Camp organized by the All-China Federation of Taiwan Compatriots was successfully held at Minzu University of China in Beijing on July 4, 2023. Nearly 200 college students from over 40 universities in Taiwan participated in the opening activities of the summer camp in Beijing. During the summer vacation in July and August, branch activities are also expected to be held in 28 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities in the mainland, as well as Hong Kong, Macao special administrative regions, the island of Taiwan and overseas regions, attracting about 1,000 youngsters from the Chinese mainland and Taiwan. The summer camp focuses on inviting youngsters from Taiwan island to participate, helping them witness the development achievements in economic, scientific and cultural fields of the Chinese mainland, and enhancing exchanges and interaction between young people from both sides of the Taiwan Straits. Since 2004, more than 20,000 youngsters from Taiwan have participated in the activity, making it one of the key projects in cross-Straits youth exchanges. Photos: Li Hao/GT
