Editor's Note:
Visitors flooded the Memorial of the First National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC) in Shanghai on Monday morning, to attend its various patriotic New Year celebrations. The activities included a national flag-raising ceremony, a Party membership oath ceremony, a patriotism education class, an interactive historical play and the launch of a new book that tells stories about the founding of the CPC through cartoons. The memorial also organized a 30-minute tour that morning, inviting participants to visit two other nearby red-tourism destinations: the old site of the editorial office of the progressive journal LA JEUNESSE, and the old site of a printing office, where the first Chinese edition of the Communist Manifesto was printed.
