Editor's Note:
On Thursday, Global Times reporters went on an exciting journey into the Third Institute of Oceanography (TIO) of the Ministry of Natural Resources in Xiamen, East China’s Fujian Province. At the TIO, people can discover China's most comprehensive collection of gray whale specimens and witness the cutting-edge Coral Conservation Pavilion, boasting the country's most advanced technology for cultivating a diverse array of live reef-building coral species. The TIO also proudly houses the only IAEA Collaborating Centre for Marine Environment Isotope Analysis in China. With a focus on applied and high-tech research, the TIO serves as a hub for numerous research and experimental institutions dedicated to advancing marine science. Their efforts contribute significantly to the progress of ocean technology, providing crucial support for China's marine management, economic development, and maritime security.
