Editor's Note:
Chaozhou embroidery is one of the four most prestigious embroidery styles in China. It originated in Shantou and Jieyang cities, and is known for being “glam” due to its 3D visual aesthetics, which differentiate it from the euphemistic Suzhou embroidery. The art is a local’s intangible cultural heritage gem that is also dubbed as “sculpture on textiles”. Hong Yujing, the inheritor of the art shared her stories about promoting this Chinese art overseas with the Global Times. She said that it represents Chaozhou artisans' mindset of being “patient and not eager for a quick success.” Photos: Chen Tao/GT
