Editor's Note:
Hand-crafted beef balls and the guozi rice snack are two Intangible Cultural Heritage treasures unique to the Chaoshan area of South China’s Guangdong Province. The chewy guozi has a colorful floral appearance and is often served by the Shantou locals at important ritual events. The small beef balls were also part of the Chaoshan folk tradition, and have now become part of the city’s golden name card promoting its cultural tourism. Photos: Chen Tao/GT
