Editor's Note:
Visitors attend the opening ceremony of the Divine Granary of the Altar of the God of Agriculture (Xiannongtan Temple), which is now also the Beijing Ancient Architecture Museum on April 18, 2024. It makes the first public opening of the Shen Warehouse architectural complex in more than 200 years. In Qing Dynasty (1644-1911), the emperor would plow the jitian ceremonial farmland in person in the second lunar month each year. The grains harvested from the farmland in autumn would be stored in the Divine Granary as supplies to state sacrificial ceremonies in imperial temples and altars.(Photo: Li Hao/GT)
