Visitors flocked to Shanghai’s popular scenic spots, such as the Oriental Pearl Tower, on Monday, the 15th China Tourism Day. To celebrate this year’s event, 56 scenic spots across Shanghai, including the landmark Oriental Pearl Tower, offered half-price admission from Friday to Monday. Shanghai culture and tourism authority has recommended 10 themed tourist routes to cater to the diverse preferences of both domestic and international visitors. The themes include red (patriotic) education, suburban natural ecology, cultural and museum arts, architectural exploration, ancient town experiences, among other distinctive categories.
