The 2025 presentation ceremony of the Shanghai “Magnolia Gold Award” was held on September 29. A total of 28 expatriates received the Magnolia Gold Award, and another two were granted honorary citizenship this year for their remarkable achievements in their fields and significant contributions to Shanghai’s development and international relations, the Shanghai municipal government announced on Monday. Shanghai began honoring expatriates with the Magnolia Silver Award in 1989 to recognize their contributions to the city, and introduced the Gold Award in 1992 and honorary citizenship in 1997.
