Editor's Note:
On January 22, the Liuli Pavilion Courtyard was officially transferred from the Beijing Archaeological Research Institute to Beihai Park. The handover marks the first time in 70 years that the “Xitian Fanjing,” a historic architectural complex within Beihai Park dating back more than 400 years, has been restored to architectural completeness. As an integral part of the complex, the Liuli Pavilion Courtyard had served as office space and a storage site for cultural relics for Beijing’s archaeological institutions since 1955, during which time it was carefully maintained and repaired by the institute.
