Editor's Note:
As the Chinese New Year (Spring Festival) approaches, the Fuyou Road market in Shanghai’s downtown Huangpu district, one of the most popular small commodity markets in the city, is filled with festive atmosphere. Stalls line both sides, filled with ornaments for the upcoming Year of the Horse, such as lanterns, Spring Festival couplets, and gilt-foil “fu” (fortune) character-shaped decorations. Apart from traditional festive ornaments, the market also offers creative and practical items that cater to a wide variety of customers. (Photos: Lu Ting/GT)
