Commemorative activities were held at the Shanghai Longhua Martyr Cemetery and several martyr memorial venues across Shanghai on Sunday to honor the revolutionary martyrs who sacrificed their lives for China’s national independence and development. Approximately 200 people attended the commemoration at the Shanghai Longhua Martyr Cemetery, including youth representatives from local schools, representatives from revolutionary families, and active-duty military personnel and veterans. Sunday marked this year’s Qingming Festival, also known as Tomb Sweeping Day, a traditional Chinese festival during which people pay tribute to the decreased and honor their ancestors.
