A major travel rush is underway in Shanghai as transport authorities ramp up services to ensure smooth journeys during the May Day holiday from May 1 to May 5. Passenger traffic across Shanghai’s railway network is projected to reach about 8.59 million trips between April 30 and May 6, marking a year-on-year increase of 4.4 percent. May 1 is expected to see the peak outbound flow, with around 800,000 travelers departing.
