Editor's Note:
On July 15, Beijing officially entered the year’s hottest period known as the “sanfu days,” and medical institutions across the city launched services for applying “sanfu" patches as part of the traditional Chinese medicine practice of treating winter ailments in summer. As of July 14, around 7,000 appointments had been made for "sanfu" patch treatments at the Beijing Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine affiliated with Capital Medical University, a figure on par with the same period in 2025. On the first day of the sanfu period, the hospital also introduced a systematic treatment program for winter ailments in summer, integrating resources from eight clinical departments, including respiratory medicine, cardiovascular medicine, gynecology, pediatrics, otolaryngology, endocrinology, gastroenterology and acupuncture. The program attracts many patients seeking consultations.
