The US Treasury has extended the deadline for entry into its toxic securities investment program.

The Treasury said the move is aimed at maximizing the inflow of private capital. They said the deadline has shifted by two weeks and they will now also consider allowing small firms to apply.

The toxic securities investment program is a key component of the US Treasury’s effort to flush distressed assets from bank balance sheets.
