Magistrate in a Bamboo Hat is a Yuju Opera produced by the Zhengzhou Yu Opera Theater. It tells the touching story of Cao Jin, an official from Huaiqing, Henan Province in the Daoguang Emperor period (1820-1850). Sent to be the magistrate of Fengshan in Taiwan, Cao spared no effort to improve the living conditions of the local people. He succeeded in building a dyke for diverting water in Fengshan even at the cost of losing his job.
