Dog torture raises issue of animal compassion
A photographer from Weifang in Shandong Province published photos of a young man riding a motorcycle dragging a small dog by a rope behind him.
The dog was dragged to its death.
Most Net users expressed horror. Some noted this was the second time the motorcyclist had dragged a dog to its death in six months.
Zhangyichen asked if he had mental problems. "He could not care about animals, but please do not harm them."
Angeltianshiaimeili asked why the photographer did not stop or beat the man.
Fangkong heart wrote, "The man really has mental problems and authorities should detain him as he is a danger to society."
Some Net users cursed the man to a worse end than the dog, or wished he would be a dog in the next life.
Jiahefeiyu said that since simple public decency could not prevent such behavior, there should be laws.
"When a pig is tortured to death, we should also criticize that behavior," the user wrote. "The slaughterhouses should be regulated not to kill animals with pain and cruelty."
