After three days of competition from July 7 to 9, the Kumho Tire Ladies Open finally drew the curtain at the Weihai Point Hotel & Golf Resort in Weihai, Shandong Province.

Park Bo-mi from South Korea seized the victory and gained the 100 million South Korean won ($87,105.7) prize. Chinese golfer Feng Shanshan took fourth place.

Hosted by the Small Ball Sports Management Center under the General Administration of Sport of China and the China Golf Association, the event is accredited by the China LPGA (Ladies Professional Golf Association) Tour and the Korea LPGA Tour, and sponsored by South Korean company Kumho Tire.

The Kumho Tire Ladies Open has made a name for itself as one of the most prestigious international golf competitions in the region since its launch in 2013.

Although it is open to both Chinese and South Korean golfers, for the past five years, the South Koreans have captured all the championship titles.

Talking about the game, Chinese golfer Feng Shanshan said that she struggled with her swing earlier in the round and that some putts refused to sink later.

"But I did give my best effort for every shot," said Feng, who will play in the US Women's Open in New Jersey in July.

"Don't worry; I will return to this tournament and attempt to win it next year."

The general manager of the China LPGA Tour, Li Hong, said that the reason Chinese golfers have not been able to capture the Kumho Tire Ladies Open championship title is that there are still very few world-class Chinese golfers like Feng Shanshan to compete in the game.

Kumho started sponsoring Feng in February 2014. After years of dedication, she has become the number one female golfer in China and has been named on the list of the world's top golfers.

According to Li, in order to boost the sustainable development of golf, Chinese golfers need more support from local enterprises.
