Original Yuan (1279-1368), Ming (1368-1644) and Qing (1644-1911) dynasty-era paintings and calligraphy works now appear in Shanghai's first-ever museum specifically for Chinese painting and calligraphy, which recently opened in Shanghai's Putuo district, Knews reported Tuesday.
The museum boasts over 3,000 original and famous art pieces. It took four years to build and decorate the museum. According to a spokesperson from the museum, the price of a ticket is around 100 yuan ($15.16).
"The high ticket price enables us to control the number of visitors and maintain a classy environment just for art lovers," the spokesperson added.
Industry experts believe the museum not only fills a void in Shanghai's scant number of cultural heritage sites, but also helps improve local residents' understanding of traditional Chinese culture.
