China's first platform dedicated to protecting the intellectual property rights of minors has been established in Beijing, the platform operators, Beijing Culture Equity Exchange, announced on Monday in a press release.

According to Zheng Yi, vice general manager of the platform, the rise of the Internet and social media has enabled children to upload their original art works with the help of their parents. He said that he hopes the platform can help young children form a proper understanding of IP rights as well as how to protect their own works. Currently, users can log onto the platform's official website as well as a mini app in WeChat.

Zhou Xiong, deputy director of the China Children Development Service Center, said that the platform will encourage children to learn the value of using their own effort and ideas to create original works.
