A fire alarm was set off on a high-speed train in Central China by a woman's pungent perfume, resulting in a short delay.

The high-speed train was traveling from Zhengzhou to Anyang, Henan Province when it abruptly came to an automatic halt on Tuesday.

Technicians found smoke detectors had been triggered in the trains No.3 carriage toilet.

They soon discovered a woman occupying the restroom and a strong perfume smell coming from inside.

After confirming that no fire had been lit, they determined the alarm had been triggered by the high-concentration of perfume in the air.

The incident caused a three-minute delay, which could be an eternity for high-speed rail, according to workers.

"During peak hours, there are only five minutes between two high-speed trains. An abrupt stop of one train also delays the trains behind it," said a Zhengzhou railway administration employee.
