A total of 600 artists from 25 countries and regions will perform during the one-month-long annual performance season Meet In Beijing, festival organizers announced on Thursday.

The festival, which will include theater plays, exhibitions and dance performances, will kick off with the Asia in Harmony concert on April 25 at the National Centre for the Performing Arts.

The opening concert will be staged by the China National Traditional Orchestra as well as musicians from Asian countries including Japan, Vietnam, Thailand and Pakistan.

Chinese opera singer Li Yugang will stage his epic show Princess Zhaojun from April 26 to May 1 at the Beijing Tianqiao Performing Arts Center.

On May 24-25, the center will also see the Brigham Young University Arts Troupes perform its BYU Spectacular to mark the 40th anniversary of their first China performance in 1979.

According to Jeffery F. Ringer, associate international vice president at Brigham Young University, the school has sent a large group of performers to mark the occasion.
