An eight-year-old girl has become a hit on Chinese social media after a video showing her boxing prowess went viral.
The girl, nicknamed Xiaotangyuan (sweet little dumpling), amazed netizens with her quick, fluent moves and combination punches she throws.
Xiaotangyuan, her father Zheng Weixin, and her brother live in Bijie, Southwest China's Guizhou Province, are all hoping that boxing will somehow change their lives.
While the video of the girl shows that she seems to have some natural talent, bruises on her face and arms also indicate the intensity of her training.
Xiaotangyuan is seen in the video on Sina Weibo taking on her brother, 10, who can barely defend himself against the onslaught of his sister's punches.
"I've never seen a little Chinese girl make such a nice combination of punches," wrote Weibo user 3syx.
Zheng told The Beijing News that his children practice every day for about an hour after finishing their homework.
Bruises can be seen in photos of the children happy, smiling in the video.
"I told them if we are to walk out of the mountains, we have to strive," said Zheng.
The city of Bijie remains among the most impoverished areas in China.
