Cast for Chinese fantasy film series the ‘Feng Shen Trilogy’ revealed

The cast for the Feng Shen Trilogy, China's first trilogy of epic myth films, was announced on Monday.

Directed by Chinese director Wuershan and produced by Du Yang, the film will star actors Huang Bo, Fei Xiang, Li Xuejian and Xia Yu as the last King of Shang Dynasty (c.1600BC-1046BC) Jiang Ziya, Yin Shou, Shen Gongbao and King Wen of Zhou respectively.

The film is an adaptation of the 16th century novel The Investiture of the Gods, whose story is set in the era of the decline of the Shang Dynasty and the rise of the Zhou Dynasty (1046BC-256BC).

The film will show audience an epic war among humans, gods and monsters.

In addition to the above-mentioned veteran actors, the cast also includes young actors Yu Shi and Hai Liang.

The first film in the trilogy will debut in the Chinese mainland in summer 2020, while the remaining two films will arrive in theaters in 2021 and 2022.
