A seminar attended by film insiders and scholars about the upcoming movie The Wings of Song was held in Beijing on Saturday. The musical, set to be screened across the country in February 2020, tells the story of three young musicians from different ethnic minority groups traveling in Northwest China's Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region.

Seeking musical inspiration, they travel to the grasslands, rural areas and urban cities in Xinjiang.

According to the seminar, this is a new attempt by Xinjiang's local Tianshan Film Studio to explore music and dance in film. The studio spent two years on the script and the film crew traveled over 20,000 kilometers to film 17 scenes.

Art critic Li Zhun said that the music and dance as well as the beautiful natural scenery of Xinjiang is sure to touch audiences' hearts.

Huang Shixian, a professor at the Beijing Film Academy, said that it was inspiring to see the three chase down their music dreams.
