US actress-singer Scarlett Johansson began trending on China’s Twitter-like Sina Weibo on Tuesday after being nominated for the Best Actress and Best Supporting Actress Oscars for her roles in Marriage Story and Jojo Rabbit.

The Hollywood actress has snagged her first and second Oscar nomination all at once, making her one of 12 actors and actresses to be nominated in two acting categories in a same year in the history of the Academy Awards.

In China, Johansson’s fans have given her the name guajie, or Big Sister Widow, for her performance as Black Widow in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

“I’ve always thought Johansson’s acting was excellent and wondered why she hadn’t won an Oscar. Finally she was nominated!” netizen ReneeYeung commented on Sina Weibo.

In Marriage Story, Johansson plays Nicole, an actress married to director Charlie Barber (Adam Driver). The two worked together but begin to drift apart and end up getting a divorce. The film has an 8.7/10 on Chinese media review platform Douban based on 32,900 reviews.

“That’s Scarlett Johansson. She is back after shining in Lost in Translation,” Chinese netizen Zhang Dashui wrote in a review.

Jojo Rabbit also has a high rank of 8.5/10 on Douban. Johansson plays a mother who hides a Jewish girl in her house during the late stages of World War II.

Marriage Story and Jojo Rabbit are set to debut in the Chinese mainland on February 12 and 28 respectively.

As to whether Johansson will win her Oscars, this will be revealed on February 9 when the Academy Awards are held in the US.
