China is willing to continue to cooperate with the EU and the US for win-win and mutual benefits, and hopes the US will meet China halfway and make joint efforts, Gao Feng, spokesperson for the Chinese Ministry of Commerce said on Wednesday in response to a question about the US government's reaction to China-EU talks on a bilateral investment treaty (BIT).

China and the US have also carried out various forms of pragmatic cooperation in the supply of anti-epidemic materials, Gao told a late-night briefing after Chinese and EU leaders announced the completion of BIT talks according to schedule earlier in the day.

In the first 11 months of this year, bilateral trade in goods between China and the US reached $524.29 billion, a year-on-year increase of 5.8 percent.

As the world's two largest economies, China and the US should carry out economic and trade cooperation, which is conducive to enhancing the well-being of the companies and people of the two countries, and plays a decisive role in global economic growth, Gao said.

China is willing to strengthen communication and contact with the US on the basis of equality and mutual respect, expand cooperation and manage differences. It is hoped that the US and China will work together to bring China-US economic and trade relations back to the right track as soon as possible, Gao said.
