Ultraman, one of the most well-known superhero figures in the Japanese TV industry, helped out a 5-year-old boy in Jinan, East China's Shandong Province, who suffers from cancer, to realize his New Year dreams on Tuesday.

The boy, surnamed Mou, is the son of a veteran who joined disaster relief and rescue efforts in the massive earthquake that shook Southwest China's Sichuan  Province in 2008. In 2019, he was diagnosed with neuroblastoma, a type of cancer that forms in the body's nerve tissue.

He has gone through 10 chemotherapy courses, two transplant surgeries and 20 rounds of radiotherapy, Mou's father told media. "He always seems upbeat, sometimes even jumping up and down like a normal kid, but we are afraid that we don't know what will happen to him in the next second."

During the New Year holiday, Mou's father made a list of 50 wishes for his son, which include seeing Ultraman in person.

On learning the news, Ultraman China told the father that they would help Mou realize his dreams. Sure enough, standing in front of him were an Ultraman and a "giant monster" engaged in heated battle, as Mou lit up with the biggest smile that his Dad had ever seen.
