Some people might be worried about how to take out the household trash every day when the whole neighborhood goes into lockdown, but not residents in Dalian, Northeast China's Liaoning Province, who have been carrying out this chore with a little help from drones.

A video circulating online showed a drone navigating between residential buildings in Dalian on Sunday with a bag of garbage hanging below. The drone flew out of a window of a high-rise building directly to a garbage bin, dropped the bag with pinpoint precision, and then flew back.

One resident came up with this futuristic idea after the neighborhood was put under lockdown and people were advised to stay at home in an effort to curb another round of COVID-19 infections.

"Science and technology really do change our lives," wrote a netizen awe-struck by the idea on China's Twitter-like Sina Weibo.

"This is so cool. You ought to be careful though," reminded another commentator. "It would be dangerous if it leads to high-rise littering activities."
