Residents of a household in Shenyang, Northeast China's Liaoning Province, were stunned when they woke up Sunday morning to find their balcony sealed up by a "frozen waterfall."

It turned out that there had been a water leak overnight from the household on the seventh floor, media reported on Monday. The water that ran from the seventh floor to the ground was frozen in mid-air due to extremely cold temperature of -20 C, forming an "iced waterfall" outside the building.

A video clip shows that it covered the entire height of the building, passing through balconies on each floor. "It is very dangerous, since the ice had sharp points and kept dropping," one resident said.

Firefighters later came and cleaned the "waterfall" away, while the running tap water was closed off.

The scene, although dangerous, amazed Chinese netizens, who thought it made for a breathtaking view. "Kids, attention please! Princess Elsa lives here and she built an ice castle!" one user joked.

"The ice age has come when you woke up," said another netizen.
