A man passing by a reservoir in Baofeng, Central China's Henan Province, has rescued a goose trapped on ice at the risk of falling into the freezing water by crawling near the stuck animal using two tires and a rope. "Every life is worth living," said the man.

The rescuer, surnamed Huo, was hanging out with some friends near the reservoir when they heard a goose calling for help. "Since its feathers were stuck on the icy surface of the lake, I couldn't sit around doing nothing," Huo told BTV News.

Huo then sprang into action. He equipped himself with two car tires and a rope, and carefully crawled near the goose. As he approached, the ice nearby cracked, and the goose fell into the water which allowed it to escape.

When asked why he disregarded the danger to save a goose, Huo replied, "I've gone through some changes in my life due to the COVID-19 epidemic, which made me realize that every life is worth living. I didn't know what gave me the courage, but I did know I would feel better if I saved it."
