The upcoming talent show CHUANG 2021 by China's streaming giant Tencent Video aims to form an international boy band with trainees mainly from Asian countries like Thailand and Japan, according to a seminar organized by Tencent Video and the China Literature and Art Critics Association on Monday.

The band will be picked from 90 trainees from China, Japan, Russia and Thailand who will spend months living and training together under the guidance of a team of tutors led by Chinese actor Deng Chao.

According to Zhao Jing from Tencent Video, the highlights for the show will be how these trainees from different cultural backgrounds interact with each other and communicate and what the 20 or so overseas trainees will think about Chinese culture.

"We will showcase the cultural exchanges between them and China," she said.

As the world continues to suffer from the COVID-19 pandemic, such a show that unites young people from different countries is sure to inspire people and get them following the trainees' growth.

"Hosting such a show to boost exchanges among young people grasp three key factors, youth, culture and growth," commented Yin Hong, vice chairman of the China Literature and Art Critics Association and a professor at Tsinghua University.
