A bunch of wild snub-nosed monkeys in Qinling Mountains, Northwest China's Shaanxi Province, besieged a cab for food and were unwilling to leave, prompting netizens to jokingly call them "car bandits" and "road fighters."

"There were five or six of them surrounding my car asking for food. I gave them everything I had, biscuits and fruits. They just refused to leave," said the cab driver in a video posted online by The Paper on Tuesday. "I was quite excited because I've never seen them at such a close distance."

In another video showed by The Paper, monkeys sat around on the ground watching cars passing by, while rangers had to direct traffic in person to prevent the cars from harming them.

Netizens on Sina Weibo said that this bunch of national first-class protected species are born timid but love to join in the fun. They jokingly called the monkeys "bandits who go out patrolling their territories."

Qinling Mountains, as one of the 25 most biodiverse places in the world, has always been a perfect habitat for a large number of rare species, and is home to the snub-nosed monkeys and other endangered animals that are unique to China.
