Huawei new foldable MateX2 handset series were sold out seconds after the purchase channels were opened Thursday Morning on all major online shopping platforms due to the limited release and large demand.

Although Huawei MateX2's price is considered high, starting from 17,999 yuan ($2,785.23), it's estimated that 5 million people made pre-orders ahead of the official purchase date. Carrying its self-developed Kirin 9000 5G SoC chipset, the provision is limited due to US' crackdown on its chip supply. Some small mobile phone dealers shortly sell MateX2 handset at a price of 39,999 yuan, over double the official launch price as seen on JD mall.

Xiang Ligang, an independent telecom analyst, said that the premium price is reasonable. The calculation capability of MateX2 series is superb and the foldable screen could provide a better reading experience with great portability.

Xiang predicted the amount of MateX2 provided to market may be hundreds of thousands and approaching 1 million, limited by the chip and screen provision on supply side and the high price on the demand side.
