A doctor in Huainan, East China's Anhui Province was recently shocked to discover golden 'Buddhist relics' inside a patient's body during a gallbladder operation, which turned out later to be an unusual gallstone.

"The gallstone was bead-shaped and golden, which looked just like Buddhist relics," said the surgeon, surnamed Zhu, according to Feidian Video on Tuesday.

"Such gallstones are very rare to see, and frankly, it's beautiful," added Zhu, who carries out hundreds of surgeries every year.

"I kept it myself after asking for the patient's permission," said Zhu with excitement.

Zhu encouraged people to eat some fatty food from time to time, which can help with bile excretion and prevent gallstones from forming.

"The formation of gallstones also relates to our everyday habits. And people should definitely not get too full or too hungry," reminded the surgeon.

Netizens on China's Twitter-like Sina Weibo were also shocked by the picture, but also expressed concerns over the patient's health. "He must have been hurting badly to have formed such a big one in his bladder, or maybe he comes from outer space," joked one netizen with a smirking emoji.
