Residents in Mianyang, Southwest China's Sichuan Province, have recently been haunted by "supernatural phenomena" such as floating trees, soaring mermaids and flying fairies, all of which were in fact drawn by a local villager, People's Daily reported on Monday.

They are the result of the hobby of a villager, surnamed Jia, who has been drawing patterns on pillars or trees that can ingeniously integrate with the background, making it look as if the original pieces have vanished, leaving only the upper parts floating in the air.

Jia then adds some other characters on top, as if they are hiding inside the trees or pillars.

Depending on the detail and size of the works, the time it takes to complete these works usually varies from a few hours to two or three days.

Surprisingly, Jia himself is not an art student, but majors in electric automation. He claimed that his talents were sent to him telepathically by his twin brother, who studies art.

Netizens are amazed by his works, but for one local resident in Mianyang, the fascination had an unfortunate result - he hit his head on a "hidden tree," and is being treated at the hospital, commented the man under the video.
