An incident in which a woman who received a job offer and then decided not to join the company later found her personal information and resume made public by the interviewer has outraged netizens, who called it a serious violation of privacy.

The applicant, surnamed Guo, said she had an interview with a start-up company in Hangzhou, East China's Zhejiang Province, on March 6 and passed it. The company sent her an offer letter and asked her to start on March 20. However, she later decided not to join the company and informed the interviewer on March 19. The next morning, she found all her personal information and resume maliciously posted on WeChat by the interviewer, surnamed Chen, who called on other companies to boycott her.

Guo believed this was a serious violation of her personal privacy, and then went to the company and asked Chen to remove the post. "Signing an offer doesn't mean I must join the company. It's a two-way selection process."

Chen deleted Guo's information and apologized to her, but also argued that it was highly irresponsible for Guo to bail on the company the day before she was due to start work, seriously disrupting the company's plans and causing it to miss out on other candidates.

Most comments on China's Twitter-like Sina Weibo sided with Guo, condemning the more powerful recruiter's violation of workers' rights.
