Chinese artist Han Chang has become the second winner of the Ingenuity of the Hand, an award founded in 2019 by China and France cultural exchange organization Yishu 8 and the China Soong Ching Ling Foundation's Golden Phoenix fund to help support handcraft art.

Han's works include a humpback whale and a metal tag with his "personal ingredient table" on it. As the award winner he will have the oppotunity to spend two months in France working with overseas masters and scholars as well as hold a solo exhibition in Beijing after he returns.

Han beat out three other contestants to gain the recognition of a jury consisting of Christine Cayol from Yishu8, Lei Geye from the Golden Phoenix fund and professor Su Dan.

Lei said at the award ceremony on Tuesday that she hoped Han can seek out new inspiration during the upcoming trip and convert them into art.

The artist also said that through such an international platform, he will have more time for deep discussions with French artists.
