A woman in Southwest China's Chongqing Municipality reportedly cut off all electricity lines in her house and sealed the windows and doors due to fear of radiation that she believed might lead to cancer.

The woman, surnamed Chen, became "terrified" of the "electricity" after she saw a light trail in her house that she accidentally captured in a video she filmed when the lights in the house were off in January, local media reported on Monday.

"I was afraid that it might be some kind of electromagnetic radiation or high frequency current," she said. She claimed that she worked in the department of oncology in a hospital, without saying what her exact job was, and that she had heard about "how electromagnetic radiation can easily cause cancer", according to the report.

After investigation, the light trail that Chen saw turned out to be a light trajectory of a flying insect shot by a low-light camera.

Chen said she finally "overcame the fear" of electricity after being informed that lights and electricity in the house are "harmless."
