Multiple Chinese companies and individuals have applied to register for the trademarks using the Chinese-character equivalent of the US Electric car maker Tesla, company information website Tianyancha showed.

A search on Tianyancha showed that over 10,000 companies have made trademark applications that contain Chinese characters making up the word for Tesla, tesila.

This include tesila noodle, tesila diamond and tesila perfume. The classification involves medical devices, transportation tools, advertising, catering and accommodation. At present, most of the trademarks are still at the application stage.

"It seems that there should be a trademark for Tesla brakes fail," commented a Chinese netizen known as quanyongyi.

Tesla China has become an internet sensation on Chinese social media and caused an uproar among Chinese consumers for their perceived overconfident attitude toward concerns over quality control issues.
