2021 Book fair kicks off in Beijing

The 2021 Beijing Book Fair kicked off in the capital on Friday with the aim to provide a variety of reading resources to the public and improve the reading atmosphere in the city. 

The book fair, which is free of charge, is being held in the Sun Park, a park in Beijing's Chaoyang district. Covering some 10,000 square meters, the venue has nine leisure sections including main theme book exhibition area, a creative lifestyle area and a parent-child area. They all serve to diversify visitors' experiences at the fair.

Beijing is a Chinese city focusing on promoting public reading services to further enhance its cultural and social strengths. Wang Yefei, deputy director of the Publicity Department of the Beijing Municipal Party Committee, emphasized that the book fair has the higher aim of catering to the intellectual and cultural needs of people. 

The book fair is also being held to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China (CPC) by exhibiting related books and holding various commemorative events. 

The fair is scheduled to end on May 24.
