Oppo employee, bombarded for slandering Huawei's HarmonyOS, is gone

An Oppo employee publicly announced on his Sina Weibo account that he has officially "ended his time" at the Chinese smartphone maker on Friday, after slandering Huawei's HarmonyOS on social media.

The former employee surnamed Huang, who reportedly worked in Oppo's PR department, stated that he denied the value of the HarmonyOS citing a number of unsubstantiated sources, he said in his post. He added that he impulsively made the comments on Weibo which failed to distinguish between his blogger identity and his actual role at work. Huang has more than 200,000 followers on his Weibo account.

His inappropriate comments created a significant negative impact in the market, forcing him to reconsider his suitability for his PR role, Huang decided to end his career at Oppo, read the post.

Huang denigrated the HarmonyOS, or Hongmeng in Chinese on his Weibo account on Monday, saying that no other smartphone makers would adapt to the HarmonyOS system, according to a screenshot of his Weibo. 

He apologized for his inappropriate comments on Tuesday stating that he acknowledged his mistakes and that he made the comments in a personal capacity. 

HarmonyOS is an operating system designed for various devices and settings. It was first launched on Internet-of-Things devices. The HarmonyOS has already been used across a wide range of Huawei watches, laptops and home appliances over the past two years.
