A total of 42 Chinese writers and 14 TV and film works were awarded at the Golden Screenwriters' Night hosted by Chinese streaming giant iQIYI on Sunday as part of its efforts to pay tribute to these creatives.

According to iQIYI CEO Gong Yu, as a platform for a variety of TV and film content, the site hopes the event can become a stage for screenwriters to have their voices heard.

The awards winners include Pema Tseden, Zhang Yimou and Zhang Ji as well as young promising talents like Wang Xiongcheng and Lin Xinhui.

Veteran Chinese writer Liu Heping said that screenwriters play an important role in the creative process and that he hopes to see a golden age for screenwriters.
