Implementing the policy of reform and opening-up is a crucial step toward the revitalization of Northeast China, Premier Li Keqiang said on Wednesday, calling for more efforts to attract talent and strengthen the region's competitiveness in Northeast Asia and the world.

The remarks were made by Premier Li in a visit to the China- Republic of Korea (ROK) international cooperation demonstration zone in Changchun, Northeast China's Jilin Province on Wednesday.

Established in April 2020, the zone now has 700 Chinese and foreign companies. Several industrial parks promoting bilateral collaboration in IT, high-end equipment and intelligent manufacturing, food, medicine and other fields are built in the demonstration zone.

When asked by the premier why they chose to invest in the zone, representatives of two South Korean firms said that Changchun and South Korea are geographically close, the automobile industry chain is complete, and education and human resources are abundant, so investment in the site was a good choice.

Li said that China welcomes more foreign small and medium-sized enterprises to invest in China and will treat them equally. The Chinese government will also find ways to solve the common problems encountered by these firms and motivate them to achieve sustainable development.
